TENORMIN SIDE EFFECTS:

Dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, nausea, diarrhea, lightheadedness, unusual dreams, leg pain, or vision problems may occur as your organism gets used to the drug. TENORMIN PRECAUTIONS:

Tell your doctor if you have any allergic reaction. Your doctor or pharmacist must know your medical conditions, especially if you have such problems as certain types of irregular heartbeats (e.g., sinus bradycardia, second or third degree atrioventricular block), cardiogenic shock, a certain type of tumor (untreated pheochromocytoma), heart failure (treated, compensated type), breathing problems (e.g., asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease), overactive thyroid disease (hyperthyroidism), diabetes, severe heart failure (overt or decompensated type), kidney disease, blood circulation problems (e.g., Raynaud's disease), mental/mood disorders (e.g., depression), certain muscle disease (myasthenia gravis). Notify your doctor that you are taking the drug before surgery. If you have diabetes, this medication may mask the fast/pounding heartbeat you would usually feel when your blood sugar level falls too low (hypoglycemia). Other symptoms of a low blood sugar level such as dizziness or sweating are unaffected by this drug. Tenormin may make you giddy or drowsy. Be attentive while carrying out actions requiring high attention, such, for example, as driving or using machinery. Limit alcohol. To minimize dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position. This medication is not advised during pregnancy and can be taken only if it's really necessary. TENORMIN INTERACTIONS:

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin), other heart drugs (e.g., digoxin, quinidine), anti-diabetic drugs (e.g., glipizide, glyburide, insulin), calcium channel blockers (e.g., diltiazem, verapamil), epinephrine, general anesthesia, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., indomethacin, ibuprofen), other drugs to treat high blood pressure (e.g., clonidine, reserpine). Read attentively labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could increase your heart rate or blood pressure. Consult your pharmacist about the safe use of those products.

NOTES:

Try not to miss a dose, but if it happened, take it as soon as you remember, but not if it is within 8 hours of the next dose. If it is within 8 hours of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up. Some lifestyle changes (diet, exercises, etc) may raise the effectiveness of the drug. Ask your doctor or health care professional about lifestyle changes that can better your medical conditions.
