Neurontin is applied in combination with other medications to help control seizures in adults and children (3 years of age and older). It is also used to relieve nerve pain associated with shingles (herpes zoster) infection in adults.

HOW TO USE NEURONTIN:

It is an oral remedy. It is recommended to apply neurontin with or without food or as prescribed by your doctor. The dosage depends on your medical condition and response to treatment. NEURONTIN SIDE EFFECTS:

You may experience unsteadiness, fatigue, vision changes, drowsiness, dizziness, weight gain, nausea, dry mouth, or constipation. Inform your doctor immediately in the case of worsening or persisting your conditions. If you experience such unusual but serious side effects as tremor or shaking, persistent sore throat/fever/cough, unusual bleeding/bruising, pain/redness of arms or legs, swollen arms/legs, loss of coordination, mental/mood changes, chest pain, trouble breathing, fast/slow/irregular heartbeat, hearing loss, stomach/abdominal pain inform your doctor immediately. If you experience serious allergic reaction ask for medical help. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: swelling, severe dizziness, rash, itching, trouble breathing. If you experience neurontin side effects not mentioned above notify your doctor immediately. Don't forget that your doctor has prescribed this medication because the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious neurontin side effects.

NEURONTIN PRECAUTIONS:

Before taking neurontin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. Before using neurontin, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease. This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages as they may worsen these effects. Caution is advised when using neurontin in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially swollen arms/legs or loss of coordination. Caution is advised when using this drug in children because they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially the mental/mood changes (e.g., hostility). This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Neurontin passes into breast milk. Because the effects of this drug on the nursing infant are unknown, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

NEURONTIN INTERACTIONS:

Your doctor or pharmacist may already be acquainted with any possible neurontin interactions. Do not start, stop or change the dosage of any medicine consulting the doctor. Your doctor should know about all the medications you are taking, especially of: antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, morphine. This product can affect the results of certain lab tests for urine protein. Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use this drug.
