Lipitor is applied with definite diet for lowering cholesterol and fats (triglycerides) in the blood. The remedy is usually applied if non-drug ways of cholesterol level lowering (e.g., increase in exercise, diet change, weight loss if overweight) were not enough successful. Young girls must have had their first menstrual period before starting this medication. The medication belongs to enzyme blockers (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor), also known as a "statin".
