This remedy is applied for treating mild to moderately severe pain. Codeine phosphate is a narcotic pain reliever. It acts on certain centers in the brain to give you pain relief.

HOW TO USE CODEINE PHOSPHATE:

This medication is given by injection into a muscle or under the skin, usually every 4 hours or exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Learn the proper way to give injections. Ask your doctor any questions that may interest you. The dosage depends on your medical condition and response to treatment. It is recommended to take codeine phosphate at the first signs of pain and not when it becomes unbearable. Before using this medication, check it visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Learn to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely. Consult your pharmacist. Be careful, because if you take the remedy regularly for a long period you may become dependent on it. In such cases, withdrawal reactions (e.g., runny nose, sweating, restlessness, widened pupils, loss of appetite, "goose bumps, " irritability, shakiness) may occur if you suddenly stop this drug. To prevent withdrawal reactions when stopping extended, regular treatment with this drug, gradually reduce the dosage as directed. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details, and report any withdrawal reactions immediately. Though very unlikely, abnormal drug-seeking behavior (addiction) is possible with this medication. Don't change your dosage. Stop taking codeine phosphate immediately when your doctor tall you to do it. When used for an extended period, this medication may not work as well and may require different dosing. Talk with your doctor if this medication stops working well. If your pain persists or worsens in 24 hours after first dose after changing it inform your doctor immediately.
