Ceftin is applied for treating a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication belongs to the class of cephalosporin antibiotics. HOW TO USE CEFTIN:

CEFTIN SIDE EFFECTS:

You may experience vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, or stomach pain may occur. Dizziness and drowsiness may occur less frequently, especially with higher doses. Inform your doctor in the case of worsening or persisting any of the side effects. If you experience such unusual but serious ceftin side effects as yellowing of the eyes/skin, severe stomach/abdominal pain, bruising/bleeding, jerky movements, mental/mood changes, unusual tiredness/weakness, persistent nausea/vomiting, dark urine, change in the amount of urine, signs of new infection (e.g., fever, persistent sore throat), easy chest pain inform your doctor immediately. This medication may rarely cause a severe intestinal condition (pseudomembranous colitis) due to resistant bacteria. This condition may occur while receiving therapy or even weeks after treatment has stopped. Do not use anti-diarrhea products or narcotic pain medications if you have the following symptoms because these products may make them worse. If you notice persistent diarrhea, abdominal or stomach pain/cramping, blood/mucus in your stool consult your doctor. Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in oral thrush or a new vaginal yeast infection (oral or vaginal fungal infection). Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: swelling, severe dizziness, rash, itching, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Don't forget your doctor has prescribed this medication because the benefit to you is greater than the risk of the ceftin side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

CEFTIN PRECAUTIONS:

Your doctor should know if you have any allergic reaction. Inform your doctor if you have such problems as kidney disease, intestinal disease (colitis), liver disease, poor nutrition. This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. Elder people are more sensitive to the side effect of this medication. Ceftin is not recommended during pregnancy. Discuss the risk and benefits with your doctor. This medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

CEFTIN INTERACTIONS:

Your doctor or pharmacist may already be acquainted with any possible ceftin interactions. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first. Your doctor should know about all the medications you are taking, especially of: live bacterial vaccines, "blood thinners" (e.g., warfarin), probenecid. As far as this remedy may influence effectiveness of your birth-control pills you may need additional contraception. This medication may affect the results of certain lab tests. It may cause false positive results with certain diabetic urine testing products (cupric sulfate-type) and false negative results with certain blood glucose tests. Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use this drug.
